Here are the topics I’d like to publish in Entrepreneur’s Handbook

1. Business Ideas

The audience of Entrepreneur’s Handbook is ambitious and opportunistic. They are looking for entrepreneurial opportunities. If you have business ideas that you want to see come to life, share them. Ideas die in secret, says Seth Godin. So write them down. Put them in a story and let me publish it so you can get feedback. Inspire people, start getting the ball rolling. Share your ideas to make the world better.

Examples:

2. Idea-to-Income

This is where the beauty and mystery of entrepreneurship happens: how do you take an idea (something that doesn’t physically exist outside your head) and turn it into cold, hard cash in your hand? Cash from real customers is proof you created something valuable to them. This process of idea-to-income is different every time. I want to publish stories about how it happens. Got one?

Examples:

3. Failure Tales

Ever listen to How I Built This with Guy Raz? I asked Raz what he looks for in the billionaire entrepreneurs he interviews. He said, “Generosity.” He looks for people who are generous with their vulnerability and failure. This is how we learn as entrepreneurs. Teachers teach, coaches coach, entrepreneurs fail. It’s part of the job. I’m looking for stories where founders share the lessons they learned through flops and losses.

Example:

4. How to Scale

It’s relatively easy for a driven entrepreneur to think of an idea, set up shop, and launch. It’s hard to scale it into a successful business. I’m looking for stories from seasoned founders who’ve managed to grow their business(es) to six or seven figures of revenue and who are willing to share how they did it.

Examples:

5. How to Raise Money

A critical component of scaling may include raising professional money. I want to help founders learn about how to position their startups for investors. What mistakes should they avoid? How much equity is too much? What should founders do with a first tranche? If you’re a VC, angel, or a funded entrepreneur, I’d love to publish your story.

Examples:

6. Exit Events

Entrepreneurship is a struggle. But when it’s time to exit, the struggle pays off. I want to publish stories about how founders sold their companies and the lessons learned throughout the negotiation and acquisition process. If you’ve exited a company, let’s chat.

Example:

7. How to Monetize an App

As an app cofounder, I can’t find any stories about an app making $5,000-$30,000 a month. All of the articles about how to monetize an app are missing true numbers and actual stories. What does a successful mobile app-based business look like? What app revenue models work? I’m looking for stories from app creators who’ve found a niche, built a product, and found a market for their mobile app business.

Example:

8. How to Make More Money

Time equals money. If entrepreneurs have more money, they can spend more time working on things that improve life. Often entrepreneurs start out working on a side project while keeping their full-time jobs to pay the bills and support their family. I want to help readers make more money so they can be free to pursue their visions.

Examples:

9. Interviews with Recognized CEOs, Entrepreneurs, Founders

I would love for anyone reading this to use Entrepreneur’s Handbook as a way to get a meeting and sit down with an accomplished CEO or entrepreneur for an interview. Pick a company you love, shoot an email to the CEO, and ask if you can interview him or her and publish their story in front of 74k readers on Medium. They might say yes 😄, you’ll make a high-value connection, they’ll get the word out about their (personal) brand, readers will learn from their powerful experience, and I’ll get to publish a great story! Win-win-win-win.

Examples:

What I’m NOT looking for:

  • Lists of inspirational quotes
  • Generic leadership advice
  • Hiring best practices
  • Stories that are missing anecdotes or data

Gotta story?

I’d love to see it.

Feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested in having their story told on Entrepreneur’s Handbook.

Thanks,

Dave
